The Minnesota-GIS/LIS  Consortium is hosting their 30th annual conference in Bemidji, MN, home to Lake Itasca—the headwaters of the Mississippi River. I was tasked to develop a logo for submission in under 24 hours! I did some research about the conference, theme, and location to develop an idea that met the guidelines provided. Must include the full conference name, location, date, and tagline, capable of being printed on all event materials (such as embroidery), and match the existing branding of the Consortium. For the visual, I chose the image below as inspiration. Lake Itasca Park has a post erected to mark where the mighty Mississippi begins. It is iconic and recognizable mark to locals and attendees. The title of the event is in a circle around the center illustration of a river and the tagline to represent it as the focus point of that years conference.
